Don’t Blame The World For Your Problems.

Okay, this is a shorter article than usual, but it’s succinct and straight to the point, quite fitting to the title actually!

The world is an unfair place, that’s just the way it is, and you can’t change it either, so there’s no point in complaining about it, and deep down we all know this. However when you are hit by adversity, and you will be hit by adversity at various points in your life, it’s up to you how to approach it, but you’ll never get anywhere by shifting the blame onto external factors.

We’ve all got problems, that’s a fact. How you overcome these problems though, this revolves around how you accept responsibility for them, and deal with them directly.

People who shift the blame onto others, or the world for that matter, where their constant mentality is “ugh, just my luck, of course this happens to me”, or the classic “it’s not my fault” are bound to become losers. Plain and simple.

In the case of the “ugh, just my luck, of course this happens to me” situation; these people merely just accept that ‘it is what it is’ and do nothing about it, staying still, just wafting through their days instead of actually accepting that ‘it is what it is’, but then dealing with the situation and pushing on.

In the case of the “it’s not my fault situation”; well okay sure, sometimes it won’t be your fault, you can simply refer to the situation above. However when it is your fault, you need to take responsibility in order to learn and ultimately move on. No matter what you do or how you feel, you are always responsible for how you act. You’ve got to accept that you will make mistakes, nobody is perfect, this will make taking responsibility for your actions a lot easier.

The same thing goes for your happiness, you must take responsibility for it! No-one else out there is going to help you as much as you can help yourself. Stop whinging, stop blaming the world for your problems and unhappiness, if you want something, find a way! You are in charge of your life. You don’t need to sit around like little wimp wishing your life was better, if you really want something bad enough, you’ll get it. Take responsibility and go get what you deserve, it just might take a bit of hard work. But that’s okay, nothing worth-while ever came easy.

“Character – the willingness to accept responsibility for one’s own life – is the source from which self-respect springs”

Joan Didion
